Hodder & Stoughton appoints Total Media to handle UK media planning and buying

Total Media now manages all of Hachette UK’s media buying
Hodder & Stoughton, publisher of bestselling authors such as Stephen King, Jeffery Deaver, Jodi Picoult, Dr Pierre Dukan, David Nicholls, and Costa Book of the Year winner Andrew Miller has selected Total Media to manage its on and offline media planning and buying account.
The appointment signifies a key
milestone in Total Media’s relationship with Hachette Group
(http://www.hachette.co.uk/), parent company of Hodder & Stoughton and the
largest and most diversified book publisher in the UK.
With a combined media spend of £3m, Total Media now manages the media needs for
all of the group’s publishing companies and imprints in the UK, including
Headline Publishing Group, Orion Publishing Group, Little, Brown Book Group and
Hachette Children’s Books.

The publishing industry is an industry in evolution. E-publishing is growing at an exponential rate whilst print publishing is decreasing. According to Nielsen BookScan, e-publishing sales were up by 623% between January and June 2011. By contrast, print sales were down by £28m – 25%.
