We are delighted to announce that the first ever Westminster Art Collective hosted by Young Westminster Foundation, Total Media and Positive View Foundation raised a total of £19,000, which will support a new outreach youth programme in Westminster.
Outreach youth work involves meeting young people in their communities, with youth workers aiming to reach out and make contact with young people who may have little access to provision and introduce them to what’s on offer. The aim of the work is to enable young people to develop their full potential as individuals and as members of our Westminster community.
The auction, hosted by The Lord Mayor of Westminster was attended by 250 guests from across the borough in the beautiful Grade II* listed deconsecrated church turned community sport centre, Greenhouse Sports. The collection featured affordable art celebrating Westminster and its youth culture, including everything from paintings by famous artists to photography by our very own Chairman Mike Sell and CEO Guy Sellers, brought to life by the fresh approach of The Auction Collective who certainly added bundles of fun to the traditional auction set up.
Highlights of the evening included a performance by Kitch, a young hip-hop artist who uses rap to share his experience of being born with a speech impediment, incredible food by Munch in Marylebone, a social enterprise that creates training and opportunities for homeless women within the borough and of course, a flowing bar by The Floating Classroom.
Total Media have been working with Young Westminster Foundation since 2019 on a series of projects to support both the Foundation and their 80+ members. Alongside volunteering and fundraising, our teams have been involved in projects including digital and media skill auditing, training, copy writing, logo design, ethnographic research, marketing and PR strategy, perception change campaigns and mentoring. We have several projects lined up for 2020 including a series of skill workshops for YWF’s members and a campaign applying behavioural science to influence long-term change.
Our CEO, Guy Sellers said “we were delighted to partner with the Young Westminster Foundation on their art auction. The teams pulled off a great evening and the auction, skillfully driven by Tom Best from The Auction Collective, helped bring the total raised to over £19,000, way beyond our early expectations. A huge thank you to everyone involved.”
A huge thanks to our sponsors Teads, Posterscope, Fortitude, Ogury and Flashtalking for helping to create a fantastic evening and a fundraising total way above our initial expectations.
We look forward to seeing you all in 2021!
